What your community sees may not be a true picture of your club!

Soroptimist Int’l of Your Town may be the most active, most awesome, most giving club in Northwestern Region, but if you don’t publicize your activities and accomplishments, the only ones that will know just how good you are will be your members. Do you have a media /public relations committee? Is that committee submitting news stories and public service announcements to the media? Our club year is only three months old. It is not too late to establish a committee and get them working on your public IMAGE.

Each project you do is not only an opportunity to serve your community, it is an excellent public relations opportunity. Articles advertising your project, thank you letters, pictures and media coverage at its completion are a great way to promote your club and Soroptimism. Urge your committee to do some research. Visit the SIA web page at http://www.soroptimist.org for public relations source materials. Invite local media representatives to a meeting to explain their requirements. Better yet, host a special meeting honoring your local media personnel. Establish some good will so when you want publicity, the door will already be open.

IMAGE BOOKS are a permanent record of your public relations activities. I urge you to begin gathering the materials for your special Image Book. This year’s Image Books include materials from April 1, 2003 through March 31, 2004. Bring your book to Spokane, April 23 to 25 so it can be displayed and judged during the Northwestern Regional Conference. Image rules and guidelines are available for downloading at this web page.
