SI of Coupeville Toga it Up for Education!

by Kathy Sechrist
SI of Coupeville

Every winter, when the skies are gray and the days seem to be at their bleakest, the Soroptimists of Coupeville brighten and liven up the town of Coupeville with their Annual Galas! This year is no different! On February 7, 2004 a Toga Gala was held at the Coupeville Rec Hall.

All proceeds of the Gala are given by scholarship to deserving Coupeville High School seniors who are college bound.

Approximately 75 people shook off the winter blues and joined in the fun. Dinner of lasagna, Ceasar salad, linguine, topped off with tirimusui, cheese, and fruits was served, wine flowed and the toga dressed party goers danced to DJ music well into the night.

Approximately $2000 was raised for the scholarship fund and two scholarships will be presented to deserving Coupeville High School seniors at the graduation awards ceremonies this June.

Stay tuned for next year's annual Gala - rumor has it it will be a Hawaiian Luau!

Bill and Sandy Mehr are the winners of the "Best Toga" contest at the recent Toga Gala held by the Soroptimists of Coupeville.
