221 Soroptimists
celebrated "Golden Jubilee—50 Years of Shining Service"
at the District 2 Meeting at The Greenwood Inn in Beaverton, Oregon October
25-26, 2003. We literally packed the place! Once again we learned, laughed
and linked up with our District and Region T.E.A.M. Mates. We opened our
minds to learning new ideas in workshops on domestic violence, awards
and programs, new ways to structure committees, creating wealth from the
inside out, get the most from staff and volunteers through recognition,
using the NWR intranet to our advantage, and understanding the NWR strategic
plan.
Our
keynote speaker, Sunny Kobe Cook, showed us how to navigate the "Road
to Success." We opened our hearts and reached out make new friends.
We Sparkled, Shimmered and Shined in our finest attire at the banquet
and several clubs Razzle Dazzled at the Talent Show. We mounted a highly
successful "Sparkle and Shine" service project collecting 25
baskets of clearning products to be distributed by the S.A.V.E. coalition.
We learned about the Komen Foundation for the eradication of breast cancer
and the new Quadrennial Project "Project Independence--Women Survivors
of War." It was a weekend brimming with inspiration, fun and friendship.
We enjoyed our time together and returned home enriched and enlightened.
